After Several COVID-19 Cases, The Indian Premier League Has Been Suspended Immediately

The IPL’s Covid-19 situation has worsened after two KKR players tested positive, two CSK players tested positive, and a few DDCA ground crew tested positive.

The BCCI Vice-President Rajiv Shukla declared today (May 4) that the IPL 2021 has been suspended due to an increase in COVID-19 cases. Since several players tested positive while staying in a bio-bubble, the IPL 2021 was suspended. On Monday, two KKR players tested positive, though SRH’s Wriddhiman Saha and Delhi Capitals’ Amit Mishra also did.

“These are hard times, particularly in India, and while we have tried to introduce some positive vibes and happiness, it is critical that the tournament be suspended now and everyone returns to their families and loved ones,” the IPL said.

Also today, the Bombay High Court agreed to hear a request for the IPL 2021 to be canceled or postponed due to an increase in COVID-19 cases across the nation.  A related petition demanding the suspension of IPL 2021 has also been filed in the Delhi high court.
