Indian Politicians Opposing ‘Tandav’ and all OTT Platforms

‘Tandav’, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, comes under the category of offending Hindu Religious Sentiments. BJP Politicians, MLA Ram Kadam, MP Vishvas Sarang, and MP Manoj Kotak, lodges complaint against the makers of web series #Tandav at Ghatkopar police station. The petition alleges that the series incites communal disharmony and hurts the sentiments of Hindus.

On 16th January 2021, Manoj Kotak writes “It’s an urgent need to regulate the OTT Platform. Programmed telecasts on the OTT Platform are full of Sex, Violence, Drugs, Abuse, Hate, and Vulgarity. Sometimes they also hurt Hindu and religious sentiments.” He further continued demanding a ban on the web series #Tandav

After Prakash Javadekar’s call to director Ali Abbas Zafar regarding the controversy, he apologizes to his viewers. He tweeted an article saying “The web series ‘Tandav’ is a work of fiction and any resemblance to acts and persons and events is purely coincidental” He further said “The cast and crew of ‘Tandav’ take cognizance of the concerns expressed by the people and unconditionally apologize if it has unintentionally hurt anybody’s sentiments.
