Beautiful color and shades of Warli art

The Warli paintings resemble marriages and other significant things, and all these are collectively
considered as sacred. These paintings also provide religious and social aspirations of the local people.
The painting is done on an austere mud base using one color i.e. white, with rhythmic dots in red and
yellow. This color is obtained from grounding rice into a white powder. The three basic art figures which
are mostly used in the painting are a circle, triangle, and square. The circle represents the sun and the
moon while the triangle represents mountains and pointed trees. The square indicates a sacred
enclosure, the square, the “chauk”. Scenes portraying hunting, fishing, farming, festivals, and animals
surround the central objective in these rituals.
