Steve Smith Not Retained By Rajasthan Royals, Sanju Samson Can Be The New Captain Of Royals

IPL Retention 2021: Rajasthan Royals dump Steve Smith, RR has now roped in Sanju Samson as the new captain. 

Rajasthan royals drops Steve Smith, one of the top-rated batsmen in the world, after finishing at the bottom of the IPL 2020. Sanju Samson is the lead runner in the race of captaincy for Rajasthan Royals. There’s going to be a tough fight in the auctions for one of the best batsmen in the world. Chennai Super Kings looking to include Steve Smith in place of Shane Watson. RR has now roped in Sanju Samson as the new captain.

Smith started Ipl 2020 with a good start hitting back to back 2 fifties, but failed to qualify for the quarter-finals. Steve Smith struggled to score outside Sharjah Cricket Stadium which was the smallest cricket ground from all the three venues. Aakash Chopra favored the discussion by saying that “Former champions Rajasthan Royals should enter the tournament under the leadership of a new skipper”. Chopra continued his statement with “On paper, Rajasthan Royals feels like one of the most complete teams in the IPL, but on the field, the team has failed to impress even its staunch supporters”. He also suggested to not release their current young talent.
